We're delighted to share some exciting news: the new boomreader.co.uk is live!

We've rebuilt our website from the ground up with one aim in mind: to make it easier for schools, families and pupils to find everything they need to build a love of reading. Whether you're a teacher planning your next reading lesson, a parent looking for your child's next favourite book, or a school leader finding out about BoomReader for the first time, the new site has something for you.

Here's a quick tour of what's new.

Find your next book with the Book finder

Our new Book finder helps every child discover their next great read in seconds. Pupils simply choose their school year and pick what they love, from animals and adventure to space, dinosaurs, football, mystery and even "scary (but not too scary)". The Book Finder then suggests brilliant books to look out for, every one picked for primary school readers aged 4 to 11.

It's perfect for library sessions, reading corners or that moment when a child says, "I don't know what to read next."

Reading activities for your classroom

Our new Reading activities section is packed with ideas that help children choose to read, talk about books and look forward to story time. You can filter by year group (from EYFS to Upper KS2), type of activity and how much time you have.

Every activity includes clear steps, what you'll need, ways to adapt it for your class and a one-page plan to print. Try a book tasting café, where pupils sample the first pages of lots of different books before choosing one to take away, or character hot seating, where the class questions a character from your class book.

There's a version for families too, with activities to try at home.

Release radar and Recommended reads

Keeping up with new children's books can be a challenge, so we've done the hard work for you. Our Release radar highlights new and upcoming books for primary school readers that our team thinks are worth knowing about, with a few words from us on each one.

For even more ideas, our Recommended Reads brings together 150 books we love, which you can browse by year group and interest.

Reading quests for the whole community

Four times a year, every BoomReader pupil joins one giant reading challenge. Every book logged moves the whole BoomReader community closer to the goal, and every milestone unlocks gems for everyone who takes part, to spend on Boomer outfits and more.

Our Reading quests page shows the community total as it grows, along with the quests coming up through the year: Summer, Halloween, Christmas and Easter. The Halloween Reading Quest is running right now until 20 November, so there's still time to get involved!

A free widget for your school website

Proud to be a BoomReader school? Now you can show it. Our free website widget lets you add BoomReader to your school website in minutes, with your school's name and the BoomReader badge, fresh book recommendations that change every day, and our latest competition or reading quest.

Simply choose what it shows and which year groups the books are for, then copy the code and paste it into your website. That's it!

Help whenever you need it

Our new Help Centre brings together clear, easy to follow guides for BoomReader and BoomWriter, for teachers, parents and pupils. You can search for exactly what you need, and help is just one click away from every page of the site. This area is constantly being updated as the platform evolves.

Competitions and WriteFests

Our Competitions page is the place to find our reading and writing competitions, from bookmarks and reward cards to stories and more, with prizes for pupils and their schools. Keep an eye on it, and on our What's on section on the homepage, to hear about the next one.

Made for families too

Our Parents page explains how the free BoomReader Parents app turns the reading diary into something that is never forgotten, never lost and always available, so every parent and carer can log reading in just a few taps.

Works beautifully on every device

Lots of you visit us on the go, so the new website has been designed to work just as well on a phone or tablet as on a computer. The menu is clearer, pages load quickly, and the Sign up and Login buttons for teachers, pupils and parents are always at the top of the page.

New to BoomReader?

If you're not yet a BoomReader school, now is a great time to take a look. You can book a free, no-obligation demo tailored to your school, or sign up today and try BoomReader free for 30 days.

We'd love to hear what you think

We hope you enjoy exploring the new website as much as we've enjoyed building it. If you have any feedback, or there's something you'd love to see, please get in touch at support@boomhub.app.

Happy reading!

They travel between home and school, record reading progress, and help teachers keep track of how often children are reading. But paper diaries also come with hidden costs. There is the obvious financial cost of buying and replacing them. Then there is the bigger cost: the staff time needed to collect, check
