What is a BoomBassador?

A BoomBassador is a trusted student chosen by the school to support reading across the classroom or wider school community.

Once assigned, BoomBassadors can:

  • Listen to other pupils read

  • Log reading sessions directly into BoomReader

  • Support younger or less confident readers

  • Take an active role in promoting reading

This creates meaningful opportunities for pupils to support one another — while teachers retain full visibility and control.

Built-In Motivation Through Rewards

BoomBassadors don’t just help others — they’re rewarded for it too. The BoomBassador system includes unlockable reading badges, which are earned as students log more reading sessions. These rewards help keep pupils motivated and proud of their contribution, reinforcing positive reading habits.

Clear Oversight for Teachers

BoomBassadors are designed to support teachers, not replace oversight. If you have a BoomBassador in your class, you can:

  • View a week-by-week overview of their reading activity

  • See a class leaderboard, showing which BoomBassador is logging the most reading

  • Track all BoomBassador activity directly in the class activity feed

This ensures complete transparency while reducing the need for teachers to log every session themselves.

Easy Setup for School Admins

Assigning BoomBassadors is quick and simple for school admins. Admins can:

  • Manage BoomBassadors directly from the BoomReader settings

  • View all current BoomBassadors in the school

  • Add new BoomBassadors by browsing classes or searching for a student by name

Once added, students instantly gain access to their BoomBassador tools.

How BoomBassadors Work for Students

Students chosen as BoomBassadors will see a BoomBassador badge on their dashboard. From there, they can:

  • Search for a student in the school

  • Select one of the books that student is currently reading

  • Listen to them read

  • Log the session into BoomReader on the teacher’s behalf

It’s simple, empowering, and designed with safeguarding and visibility in mind.

Why Schools Love BoomBassadors

BoomBassadors is perfect for schools looking to:

  • Promote peer-to-peer reading

  • Build leadership and responsibility in pupils

  • Support younger readers

  • Reduce teacher workload without losing insight

  • Strengthen whole-school reading culture

Unlocking Reading Data for Schools

One of the most significant advantages of using BoomBassadors is the ability to unlock reading data for schools that they have never been able to access before. This data can help educators understand reading trends and tailor their teaching methods accordingly. By leveraging this information, schools can enhance their reading programs and provide targeted support to students who need it most.
